A Prayer for my Grandsons

By grandparenting 12 years ago4 Comments

Dear Lord I pray, (insert child’s name)  will obey Your commands,

and not neglect the teachings of his mother and father.

Keep Your words always in his heart and tie them around his neck.

Wherever he walks, Your counsel will lead him.

When he sleeps, You will protect him.

When he wakes up in the morning, You will advise him.

Your Word is a beam of light directed into the dark corners of his mind

to warn him of danger and to give him a good life.

I pray _______ will cast all his anxieties on You

because You want what is best for him.

I pray ________ will recognize the temptations and deceitfulness of the enemy, Satan.

Be self-controlled and alert, resist the enemy, standing firm in his faith.

Keep him from the immoral behavior of the world he sees in person, in print, in the media or on the computer.

Lord, I pray _______ will grow up to be a godly man who loves You and serves You as long as he lives.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Adapted from Proverbs 6:20–23 and I Peter 5:6–9

I am going to adapt this for my two small grand daughters. The oldest, who is 5, got into a bit of trouble with her mom’s boyfriend. He said she had a bad attitude and he took all of her stuffed animals and put them in a garbage bag until she could either earn them back or he would give them away to needy children. She got them back.
I was not there, but heard this second hand. Your site and emails help me to pray for them.
    Thank you and God bless.

My prayers are for Brayden, Abel and my 3rd grandson who is not born yet. All three need lots of individual needs. One needs safety, security, nurturing and faith teachings. This one is Brayden. I raised him for 6.5 yrs. He’s 8 now. His mother picked him up and said he will not becoming back. This devastated him.

    • Michelle,
I can see that you would be devastated. I am sure your heart is breaking. I will pray with you that you will be able to connect with him again. Continue to pray for them and see what God can do.
May God bless you as you pray for your dear grandchildren.
