Why do we have a Grandparents’ Day of Prayer?

By grandparenting 7 years agoNo Comments

God has given grandparents a sacred trust, an opportunity to imprint another generation with his love and faithfulness. That is why Christian Grandparenting Network has proclaimed the National Grandparents Day in the United States on September 10 to be a Day of Prayer. However, we want this to be a Global Grandparents’ Day of Prayer.

Prayers are urgently needed for the parents of our grandchildren to have wisdom and time management in their monumental task of guiding our grandchildren in the ways of the Lord. They live in the midst of a busy and evil environment filled with many spiritual struggles and encounters.

The most troubling news is that many of the younger generations of non-Christians negatively perceive Christianity. It’s likely that your grandchildren’s friends and classmates will only serve to undermine the spiritual values you’ve tried to impart. The prayers and godly influences from grandparents will make a great impact in your grandchildren’s spiritual growth.

Our grandchildren are living in a desperate moral and spiritual climate navigating in a world hostile to truth. Satan has launched an aggressive attack on our families, schools and our nation to desensitize our children to truth and righteousness. Grandparents are engaged in a spiritual battle to keep the hearts and minds of their grandchildren from falling captive to the enemy’s deception.

And so, here we are. In a country where wrong is called right and right wrong, and where our children are growing up in an entitlement society where no one wins, you don’t have to work to survive, and authority is to be challenged – not respected.

So what do we do when we live in a culture of spiritual, social and moral decline? Are we completely without hope and at the mercy of the merciless and the politically correct?

No, We are not without hope. We read in Psalms 46:1, “We have a God who is our refuge and strength, our stronghold in times of trouble.” Let’s pray and wait in expectation for God to cover our grandchildren and their parents spiritually, physically and emotionally.

A family’s faith can be lost in one generation; however, we as parents and grandparents can be defenders of our faith. We have the opportunity to touch the lives of another generation for Jesus Christ powerfully. That is why our children and grandchildren are our mission field and our responsibility, so they will not be helpless before their spiritual enemy.

Christian Grandparenting Network is asking grandparents throughout the world to unite in prayer for their grandchildren and their parents. Sunday, September 10, 2017, is the National Grandparents’’ Day in the United States but we are asking grandparents throughout the world to join us. If you cannot schedule and event on that day do it sometime in September when it is convenient or whenever you have a Grandparents’ Day in your country.
