You CAN make a difference in the lives of your grandchildren

By grandparenting 2 weeks agoNo Comments

The parents of our grandchildren have a great responsibility in these insecure, unstable times we live in today. Young families are busy with their jobs, church activities, children’s activities, etc. There are many distractions for them in their marriage, employment, and parenting.

In today’s broken world, Satan’s purpose is to destroy the family. It is important that we pray God will give our children wisdom and time management in their monumental task of guiding our grandchildren in the ways of the Lord.

Thousands of years ago, Queen Esther, stood in the gap for her people when their physical lives were threatened, and God answered their prayers. However, in these days of desperation and confusion, hopelessness and helplessness, when mountains are crumbling, nations are warring, people are rebelling, the earth is quaking, and the enemy is threatening, it’s time to cry out to the Lord!

However, today, God is mobilizing an army of grandparents to stand in the gap for their grandchildren and their parents through intentional prayer. Christian Grandparenting Network is committed to encouraging, empowering, and equipping grandparents with resources to pray regularly for their children and grandchildren, both privately and corporately. That is the reason we are inviting you to participate in a Grandparents@Prayer group. If there isn’t a group near you, ask God to help you start a group. We are here to help you.

G@P groups provide a safe environment for two or more grandparents to gather and pray for their grandchildren. Most groups schedule their meetings weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly. Meetings last approximately one hour. G@P groups consist of small or large groups of people meeting once or twice a month at a designated location for 1 to 1 ½ hours of prayer and fellowship.

I would like to share testimonies of two participants:

I love the sweet fellowship, support, and friendships of my Grandparents at Prayer Group. I feel safe to share my heavy heart of my concerns for my grandchildren and their parents, knowing others will be praying for them. It is wonderful to see how God is answering our prayers in the lives of our families as we pray for them.           Carol Glad, Oregon

My husband and I have 8 grandchildren who are scattered over three countries. A few days before G@P meets, I text all each grandchild separately and ask if there is anything they want me to pray for them. I also pray for their parents. Touching base personally with each grandchild has helped me become more a part of their life and fostered a very special relationship that I would otherwise not have. God has worked through these contacts and prayers to enrich all our lives, but most especially mine. Betsy Acken, SC

The most significant responsibility of Christian grandparents is to pray for their grandchildren and their parents intentionally.
