EMBRACE THE WINDS OF CHANGE

By grandparenting 4 years agoNo Comments

I haven’t spent March in the North country for many years. I’d forgotten just how changeable the weather can be. One day it’s warm, sunny, melting weather; the next day, its finger-numbing cold with a biting wind. It can even change within the day!

We all know that changes are a normal part of life. At our age, we’ve been through many! We adapted to them, whether we wanted to or not. Think about years ago when you had your first child. From the time you knew a baby was coming, to the time of birth, there were many changes in your life! You accepted those blessed changes and adjusted. Then your first grandchild was born. Would you want any of those changes to your life to not have happened?

It’s mind-boggling to think about the changes that have occurred in the last week, not to mention the previous year! How are you, your children, and grandchildren handling the good, the bad, and the scary times of change? Remember, this, too, shall pass!

I’ve never been a person who liked changes, but God sees the need for them in my life. Sometimes I’m amazed at the blessings that He brings forth in the changes that I don’t want. I can’t say for sure that I’ll always be able to stay peaceful and calm through future changes. But I can say for sure that I have a God who never changes, and I can always count on Him to guide me through them.

Wisdom from Oswald Chambers says it well: “The truth is we have nothing to fear and nothing to overcome because He is all in all, and we are more than conquerors through Him.”

I listen to music when changes in my life unsettled me. These songs have good messages. “Turn, Turn, Turn” by the Byrd’s, “You Are My All in All” by Nichole Nordeman and “God on the Mountain” by the Gaithers.

Pray these verses from God’s Word: Hebrews 13:8, Psalm 103:17, Malachi 3:6, James 1:17, Numbers 23:19, Psalm 33:11

Lord, God, you are the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. We can count on You. Your steadfast love, Lord, is from everlasting to everlasting. Enfold us in it. You, Lord, do not change, though everything around us does. Keep us secure. Every good and perfect gift is from above, from You, Father, who does not change. Help us see change as Your gift to us. God, you are not human, that You change Your mind. Keep our minds on You. What You Lord have planned will stand forever. Your thoughts never change. Keep us, our children, and our grandchildren in Your perfect peace through the winds of change in our lives. In Jesus’ name, I pray.
