What is your response when you are overwhelmed?

Globe with Joseph and Mary with donkey on the way to Bethlehem

I have been thinking during this Christmas season about Mary, the mother of Jesus. When the angel gave Mary an assignment with which she was overwhelmed, she told Mary ”For nothing is impossible with God.” Mary answered, “I am your servant, may it be to me as you have said.

God has given grandparents a God-given assignment, a Biblical role is found in Deuteronomy 4:19, “But watch out! Be very careful never to forget what you have seen God doing for you. May his miracles have a deep and permanent effect upon your lives! Tell your children and your grandchildren about the glorious miracles he did.”

My desire and prayer for 2017 is that I will be a faithful servant to my God-given grandparenting assignment as Mary. My prayer for you is that you too, will respond the same as Mary.

The greatest, lasting gift you can give your children and grandchildren is the gift of a godly praying grandparent.
