Is God’s Word your trustworthy GPS for your life?

By grandparenting 5 years agoNo Comments

I

This morning as I was reading Psalms 19, I was impressed how it tells us what God’s Word will do for us. I am sure you have read Psalms 19 many times and you may have memorized it. It is a good reminder of what God’s law, statues, precepts, commandments will do for us if we obey His Word. It’s like a GPS for us, giving us directions how to be acceptable and pleasing in his sight.

Psalm 19:7-14 Amplified Bible (AMP)

The law of the Lord is perfect (flawless), restoring and refreshing the soul;
   The statutes of the Lord are reliable and trustworthy, making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart;
   The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
   The judgments of the Lord are true, they are righteous altogether.
10 They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold;
   Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them (your Word) Your servant is warned [reminded, illuminated, and instructed] In keeping them there is a great reward.
12 Who can understand his errors or omissions? Acquit me of hidden (unconscious, unintended) faults, willful) sins;
13Let them not rule and have control over me.
Then I will be blameless (complete), and I shall be acquitted of great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable and pleasing in Your sight,
Oh Lord, my [firm, immovable] rock and my Redeemer.

In Deborah Haddix’s new book, Engaging the Scripture Encountering God in the Pages of His Wordwrites, The Bible is God’s chosen way for speaking to us. It is His very Word breathed out and protected for us for centuries in order that He might speak to us now. *  In II Timothy 3:16 we read, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.”

When I pray according to God’s Word, I am in line with His will, enabling me to pray with wisdom and power, according to Hebrews 4:12: “The Word of God is full of living power” (NLT). I have found it helpful to spend time in God’s Word to know His promises and commands because my mind is renewed to think His thoughts. His Word helps me to see my grandchildren’s needs from His eternal perspective instead of from my limited perspective.

Several years ago God gave me a passion to pray Scripture for my grandchildren. Since then I have developed several prayer cards using Scripture to pray for my grandchildren.  I believe God loves to hear us pray His Word when we pray. If you sign on the form on the left of this page to receive my blogs regularly in your emails. I would love to share the Prayer cards with Scripture with you.

May God bless you richly as you intentionally pray for your dear grandchildren,
