What is Your Response to the Birth of Jesus?

By grandparenting 4 years ago1 Comment

Now the Christmas celebrations are over. The tree will come down. The decorations will be put away for another year.  Let’s look at how Mary, the shepherds, and the Wiseman responded to the birth of Jesus and then look at our response as we have just celebrated His birth.

When the angel said to Mary, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus.” Mary said, “How can this be since I am a virgin?” the angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you.”

Mary responded, “For nothing is impossible with God, I am the Lord’s servant, may it be to me as you have said.” After the angels announced the birth of Jesus to the shepherds, they ran to Bethlehem, found Mary and Joseph and the baby lying in a manger. Later the Wisemen followed the star, found Jesus and his parents bringing them presents.

What is your response to the birth of Jesus Christ?

Don’t pack away Jesus with the Christmas ornaments until next Christmas.

The blog is written from Scriptures taken from Luke 2:15-20, Matthew 2:1-11.

Additional prayer helps:I have developed “Thirty-one Scriptures to Pray for Grandchildren.” Many grandparents are using these Scriptures to pray for their grandchildren. Just by joining the mailing list on the right side of this page, you will receive grandparenting blogs and prayer suggestions to pray for your grandchildren regularly. I will send you a free downloadable copy of “Thirty-one Scriptures to Pray for your Grandchildren.”

Hi Lillian, Our Christmas tree (plastic) is this year resting on its shelf, because Christmas should be celebrated together with the families of our two sons, both high school teachers living in Oslo. So now back our home we have made our daily walk (distance for elders) in beautiful winter weather, except snow. But the sad story is that both families do not confess a faith in Jesus, despite Sunday school from three years of age and through teen ages, even theological studies….
They do know the way, and are subjects of our prayers every morning and night…believe me! A song that I love (BillGaither) sings: Keep on casting your bread upon the water…GOD cannot push anyone into faith and obedience, but his love and care may convince the about the earthly Jesus took all their sins, and rose in a godly way. Anyway it is all about willing to accept and believe. So we continue praying…
Regards, and expressing thankfulness about your work I sign
    Ingar Clausen.
