 If you have been looking for a Christmas gift for your grandparents or your friends, I have an answer for you. Thousands of grandparents who have read Grandparenting with a Purpose: Effective Ways to Pray for your Grandchildren who have found the book helpful in praying for their grandchildren.

I was a frustrated long-distance grandparent with little involvement in the lives of my grandchildren. However, God showed me how I could impact the lives of my grandchildren by purposefully praying for them, whether they lived nearby or far away.

After doing some research and prayer, God gave me a passion for intentionally praying for my grandchildren. Here are five of the many benefits you will learn from my book entitled, Grandparenting with a Purpose: Effective Ways to Pray for your Grandchildren.

  1. Encouraged to pray regularly and deliberately for your grandchildren.
  2. Suggestions to imprint another generation with the message of God’s faithfulness.
  3. How prayer can help bridge the distance between you and your grandchildren
  4. Creative resources to grandparent with a purpose
  5. Examples of Scriptures to pray
  6. How to develop a Photo Prayer Journal

Josh Mulvihill, Ph.D., Pastor to Children and Families, Grace Church | Eden Prairie, MN wrote recently, “Lillian Penner has written an excellent book on prayer that I wish I could get into the hands of every grandparent. You should purchase this book for four reasons:

  • You will be trained to keep Scripture central to your prayers;
  • Lillian equips you to be an intentional grandparent who focuses on the spiritual growth of grandchildren;
  • You will find many practical tools to help you develop the habit of prayer for your grandchildren;
  • Lillian rightly understands something that Oswald Chambers once said, ³Prayer doesn¹t equip us for greater works prayer is the greater work.²

When grandparents ask me for a book on prayer, I always recommend Lillian¹s book, and I highly recommend it to you.”

 This book won’t make you the perfect grandparent, but it will give you resources to Grandparent with a Purpose. As a result of writing this book I was made more aware of grandparenting with a purpose by the way I live my life and intentionally praying for my nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and their parents. I am one of the Prayer Directors of Christian Grandparenting Network and eager to share the following resources with you.

    There is a silent epidemic of grandparent alienation in these United States as well as the world. Research has proven these estranging young adults lack conflict resolution skills and have become self centered dismissing the needs of their children and use them as pawns.
    Unless Christians speak of this destruction of families it will silently kill off grandparents with Broken Heart Syndrome as well as psychologically scar these grandchildren who only want the choice to love and know their loving grandparents. This behavior is child and elderly abuse regardless who the preparatory may be.
    Prayer is essential but my Lord God does not force me to love him nor will he our estranging adult children. He does and always has requires each and every person who claims to love Him and call Him “Lord” to do as He says brining all sin to His light.
    Speak up and give these children a voice.
